msdsBinders is prepared for the coming GHS legislation and can help your company make the transition.
GHS is a common and consistent approach to defining and classifying hazards, and communicating hazard information on labels and safety data sheets (SDS). According to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, the conversion of a MSDS to a SDS is not as simple as dropping the "M." Four components from the MSDS will be removed and 11 new components will be added.
GHS will cover all hazardous chemicals, which includes substances, products, mixtures, preparations, etc. It will provide an internationally agreed upon system of hazard classification and labeling. The target audiences include workers, consumers, transport workers, and emergency responders. Under this system, chemical substances and mixtures will be classified according to their physical, health, and environmental hazards.
As an employer, you will be required to retrain your employees on the new hazard symbols and replace your MSDSs with SDSs. We have identified all the hazard and precautionary statements applicable to GHS, and our system was created to handle both MSDSs and SDSs. msdsBindershas begun collecting SDS as they are produced by suppliers. GHS product labels can also be created on the msdsBinderssystem. If you are a supplier, your labels and SDSs will need to be rewritten. msdsBinders can help with the authoring of SDSs, and when the time is right, msdsBinders will help your company to make the smooth and seamless transition from MSDSs to SDSs.
